Submissions  should be sent only by email to Grandmaster Rose at zzrose@yahoo.com no later than 30 days prior to the next publication date. Publication dates are: April 1st and October 1st. Your copy can either be sent in the body of the email, or as a text file attachment; please no exotic formats! When possible, images submitted in .gif or .jpg format will be included. Email notifications will be sent to all Black Belts when the newsletter is released; you should in turn notify everyone in your groups. All submitted articles must be accompanied by what program you are with, your current rank, how long you have been training, what you do for work, and- if you wish- your email address. This should all be similar to the bio sketches following the Master's articles.

Guidelines
"What's been happening" should be concise but descriptive enough to give a flavor as to what has been happening in your program. Program name, city, state, and reporter's name must be submitted.

"Views From Around the Association" should cover a specific topic that would be of general interest to all. It could be a teaching discussion by a senior student, or an informative article either on a martial arts experience or non martial arts professional view by a junior level student. Please let us know who you are, your occupation, your rank, how long you have studied, and your email address if you wouldn't mind getting questions from other members.

Book and Movie Reviews should be informative as to what your view of it is. Please do not just tell us what happens or simply that you do or do not like it. Give details, and tell us why you feel the way you do!

On The Street is provided for members to share their experiences using their art "on the street". This could be a story of a physical confrontation, or of some personal conflect dealt with successfully through your training. This is not a showcase for how you "kicked their butt", but rather an opportunity for you to share how you were confronted and dealt with a difficult situation. Martial artists do not pick fights or conflicts, but when necessary: we end them quickly and efficiently. Let's hear your story of success!

Parting thoughts...
"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin -- real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, or a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."
- Alfred D. Souza

"Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which were overcome while trying to succeed."
- Booker T. Washington

About C&S...

C&S Self Defense Association can trace its roots back from White Cobra Grandmaster Peter M. Rose through National Karate Association Grandmaster S.A. Brock, Shudokan Karate Grandmaster Toshio Hanaue, Grandmaster Kanken Toyama, Grandmaster Yatsutsune Itosu, Shuri-te Grandmaster Sokon Matsumura, Grandmaster Tode Sakugawa, Grandmaster Kusanku, to the Shaolin Temple.

C&S Self Defense Association was formed for the direct benefit of Grandmaster Rose's direct Disciples who believed in Grandmaster's vision of the Art and all of life. Our Association, our family, is built upon the strength of character in its members. This is not something that happens overnight. It is a process that is worked on over a period of time, but this is time well spent. The goal of the Association is to provide a solid base for the members to strive for achievement in personal self defense and in personal self fullfillment.
